5th Dec 08 - Team meeting with Supervisor

Met up with HC again. We consulted him what exactly can let us get high marks. He mention that as long thing which other project group don't have is good enough. Buuuuttttttt....most of the points is still given by the accessors. Sighz...

The team is looking for some other alternatives rather than integrating Java and Flash.

Java team are finishing their 5 modes soon while the Flash team are still struggling with it.

14th Nov 08 - Meeting accessor

This is the day that we met Adrian. We demo to him our work.
He hinted that to get Distinction or HD, we need to do something special. Either the project is able to do unique stuff or else we able to make Bernard understand what is DES after the presentation (highly unlikely).

After that we discuss among ourselves what is are the special things we can do to get at least higher marks. Hmmmzz...but not much ideas...

No minutes were taken that day except some short notes which Adrian mention.

6th November 2008 - A week before presentation week

Run through our work again and giving comments. Developer team will try to complete:

• their encryption/decryption with GUI by 14Nov.
• 5 modes by 1 DEc

Flash team will try to complete:

• DES Structure, Key mixing, PC1, PC2, scheduling by 14Nov
• Complete 16 rounds key schedule,FP, S-box and permutation
• Integration of Java and Flash by 15Dec

Meeting up at 11Nov with HC to show him our work and 15Nov will present to Adrian.

30th October 2008 - General meetup

We went through each other flash documents and give comments to each other to improve. Thet Swe demo to us his program to show his progress. After that we went through the previous project group's program. Interface was pretty appealing but program hangs and take up alot of CPU resource.

Everyone agree to have a dry run before presenting to Adrian. May meet up with HC first to see if our work so far is ok.

24th October 2008 - Demonstration

Everyone reviewed the risk list and no amendments were needed. Thet Swe will email HC the documents on behalf of Mark as he will be on reservist (sad).

Use case diagrams are needed as part of our main documentation. Demonstration of flash was not done due to technical problems. Developers team shown us their progress so far. Thet Swe also shown us the IP and FP while demonstrating his program.

Mark suggest that we may need to create a pause button to stop our flash animation. Flash team will research on that.

10th October 2008 - Standardization and preparation

Flash team has agreed to use Adobe Flash CS3.
Developers team has agreed to use Netbeans 6

Data to be used for demonstration:

Plaintext = “computer”

Secret Key = “password”

Agree Thet Swe to do control all documents. Thet Swe also created a standard document template.

Flash team decided to do static demo and include some real data demo but user are not allow to input the values.

2nd Oct 08 - Meeting our boss! >> 3rd Oct 08 - Urgent Meeting

2nd Oct:
We met up with our supervisor to do some clarifications. A major question we ask is that whether or not we should come out with a DES Engine or we can use those online. Then the reply was...we need not come out with our own DES Engine! Because we are suppose to do a e-learning software for our project! Therefore most of the things we discussed earlier on are abit off the actual topic that we should focus on.

For a start, we will need to work towards a simple prototype so that we got something to show during our first presentation. We may need to create new flowcharts since our focus has changed.

Supervisor mentioned that we should create some animation so that it will be interesting for students to see. (No need him to say we also know, but thanks anyway :p)

3rd Oct:

Urgent meeting because we need to reallocate and list out what are the new things we need do. We decided to use FLASH... but bad thing is...all of us is not familiar with FLASH as none of us is a designer or learned before.

We thinking of creating a animation which demostrate how DES work and a real application which really encrypt/decrypt real data. In future we hope to integrate both together. Therefore the team is split into 2.

• Thet Swe, Edmund - Real DES application using Java
• Mark, Brad, Shang - Flash animation

We got around 1 week to fiddle with Fash before we come out with a standard template to use.

25th Sept 08

Another round of meet up. Mark and Thet Swe went through with us some DES algorithm. Mark reminded us that we must complete all the 5 modes of DES and not only the main algo. We need to come out with some Use-case models and flowcharts.

The DES structure is breakdown into various parts and assign to each individual to work on:

• Edmund - Key scheduling
• Thet Swe - Main DES structure
• Mark - Fiestel function
• Shang, Brad - GUI

We need to research on Java applet because this is used for our GUI programming. Most important thing we discussed during the meeting is... WE FINALLY CAME OUT WITH OUR TEAM NAME.

The name is MBEST and Mark will be designing the logo. :)

19/09/08 - 2nd Meet-up

Discuss how we should kick start our project. Mark couldn't make for the meeting all thanks to SAF. Thet Swe suggested that we should start discussing about the layout of our interface and platform we should used to work on. We discussed about the DES algorithms. We breakdown the algorithm and each individual will need to come out with a flow diagram on the part he work on.

• Edmund - Key Scheduling
• Bradon - Encryption/Decryption
• Shang - User GUI

Next week our Supervisor request to meet up with us. By then we should come out with Team Blog and a simple Project web. But we still do not have a team name yet!

13/09/08 - Submission of Proposal

Completed our Project proposal and submitted to our supervisor. On 12/09/08, we manage to have a short discussion over the MSN. Everyone reviewed on the Project proposal and make sure that it is ok before submission. We also discussed about what we need to discuss on the next meet up session.

The first official meeting with the team. We met up with Tan Han Chiang (Project Supervisor). He discussed with us how to get things completed and how the team should be formed. He told us to submit a Project Proposal to him by 13/09/08. Sad to say that 08/09/08 and 10/09/08 are our exams dates so we got little time to complete the proposal.

Proposal comprises of:

• DES review
• Literature review
• Solution

The team also need to come out with:

• Team blog
• Project website

We had our first unofficial meeting on this date. Before that we had a not-so-interesting lecture regarding the FYP. Sad to say that our Project Supervisor was not around so we couldn't discussed much. Things that need to be done are:

• Discussed on our which progamming platform we are familiar in
• General discussion on what should be discussed on the meeting
